What is a more environmental way to travel-- by plane, car, train or ferry (boat)?
Take the train. And... much more room, you can get up and walk to another car, even buy a beer along with something to eat. A little slower, but much more enjoyable!
Buy your ticket at least a month early. Lots cheaper.
