Mauritius Tagged Dangerous By Media
There are plenty of dangerous places in the world you may come across take east London for example or Mexico City! If you use your common sense it's highly unlikely you'll ever find yourself in trouble, I've been on Mexico holidays three times now and never come across one incident of crime and the country is supposedly world renowned for having the highest crime rate.
yet another touristry dependent country has been launched into the media limelight and labelled "dangerous" and that is the small Indian ocean country of Mauritius, i'm not singing the nations praises and claiming its the safest country but by no means is it the most unsafe.
Few facts about republic of mauritius
- 100,000 British tourist visit Mauritius every year
- Low threat from terror
- highly recommended that you have travel insurance
- Petty crime is problem in large city's
- appropriately 1.7% of the homeland people are infect in with AIDS/HIV
These aren't huge problems compared to other countries I don't see why the worlds freaking out because a innocent Gaelic woman was murdered in her hotel at the world famous legends resort and the corrupt staff who committed the unlawful crime have been caught and will face what's in store for them.
Avoid becoming a victim of crime by:
- Travel alone especially at night and even more so if you're female
- Separating yourself from your belongings
- If you're drinking in the towns or cities make sure you have enough money for a taxi back to the resort (make sure cab is licensed)
- Keep you're wallet where you know it is, maybe a deep tight fitting pocket or in a bum bag
- Take travellers checks are there far more sensible and cannot be used without you're presences, also carry small amounts of change which you can buy tid bits with.
- Don't wave large amounts of money or your flashy new camera around in public
So if you've got far east holidays or Indian oceans Holidays up and coming which are in these close proximal country's which share the same cultures and soceities which are apparently "dangerous" then don't feel paranoid and doomed that you're going to die if you go on you're holiday, just relax and enjoy but don't be silly and drop your witty thinking.
