Traveling with an infant or toddler can be difficult when you are not fully prepared. There are a some important and easy tips that can make travel with your infant much more pleasant and comfortable. One of the problems that usually occurs is the inability to maintain an established schedule. You can make keeping a feeding and sleeping schedule more stable when you follow a few tips.
Getting an infant use to making long trips in their snugride car seat requires more than just putting them into the seat and taking off. Bring the car seat into your home and sit it near a window. Putting your infant into the seat and gradually extending the amount of time they spend in the seat will help them to get used to being in the seat. In addition, if you feed the infant in the seat, they will be prepared for being fed while in the car seat when you are traveling.
When your infant is used to eating specific foods that you make at home, traveling is a bad time to switch to canned baby food. Canned foods taste different than fresh foods and can upset little stomachs. Using a small Hamilton Beach Food Processor with an adapter will allow you to make fresh foods during your trip. Placing a shirt or other article of clothing near your infant will keep them from becoming disoriented. Having familiar scents near them will help your infant from becoming distressed during the ride.
