What is your tip-of-the-month for September that might benefit other senior citizens?

Here's mine: If your library forum room or senior center has special events, such as meetings, speakers, author readings, or free movies, but the seating is on hard plastic, metal, or wooden chairs, then take along your own cushion or pillow.
The same cushions you take to sporting events would work, but I like a couple of travel pillows that I bought from KMart. I use regular pillow cases with the extra fabric wrapped around & tucked in. I like a dark green flannel pillow case robbed from the bed & also pillow cases bought as orphans from thrift shops, since I just need one at a time. A favorite one is a 70's jungle print. Happiness is having a comfy pillow. Eat your heart out with envy, Linus!
If anyone teases you when you carry a pillow, then just be glad they're not ignoring you. You could offer to bring extras to rent out next time.
cheap coffee filters: perfect to hold snacks, set a cup or glass on, hold a warm handle on the mug just out of the microwave, wipe up spills, put between breakables, dust clothes and on and on. I just keep a pile on my counter and reach for them more and more. Make a sandwich on it and put it on a plate, plates clean. I use them for cover ups in the frig if something won't be in there very long.
