My kid's father lives in Egypt. I am in UK. Does he have rights to demand access through the courts?
We are both UK nationals. He is UK and Australian passport holder but resident in Egypt, not in the UK. He says he will get a lawyer in order to get access and visitation rights, and even though I have no income he says he thinks I should cover the costs of the kids visiting him in Egypt. Does anyone have experience of this?
The court would certainly not expect you to fund visits to Egypt. If this man wishes to have access to his children, he may do so in the UK courts, but if he does, you will probably wish to apply to the court for a Prohibited Steps Order forbidding him from taking them abroad with him without specific leave from the court. Any breach of this order would constitute kidnapping.
