Should I buy a hard shell or a travel case for my macbook?
I like the Speck seethru 13" case, however, people say its hard to take off for cleaning when dust gets trapped inside, and that it adds a bit of weight on the macbook. As well it just ruins the essence of having a white macbook, you know? But I really don't like gettting scratches.
For the travel case, I like it because I still get to see and feel the polycarbonate plastic, and still provide protection while on the go. But I fear getting to many scratches and dents.
I know you can't keep the macbook in pristine condition forever and its bound to get dirty/scratches but which do you recommend me getting?
If what you're looking for is protection from scratches, but still want the essence of having to see & feel the MacBook itself w/o compromise, go for the travel case.
The advantage of the Speck see thru case, it protects the outer shell from scratches, EXCEPT the screen & keyboard. And as what your said, that people say its hard to take off for cleaning when dust gets trapped inside, and that it also adds a bit of weight on the MacBook.
The travel case on the other hand, provides protection while carrying your laptop, until you're about to use it. But some travel case enables you to use your MacBook while in it, much like the Speck see tru case, with the advantage of it being also a carrying case.
But, it's still your decision. You can get what is appropriate for you. But for me, I'd go for the travel case.
The only thing we can make our laptops in pristine condition is through careful use, avoiding it being bumped or scratched in the first place.
While I'm using my laptop, I place it above a make-shift laptop table, which is, a breakfast-in-bed table. It's kinda cheap but does the job well. And it makes the laptop high enough for air to circulate below it, helping in cooling down.
