Are the Schuko/grounded socket/plugs common in Europe?
Hi I am traveling to Europe (France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany) soon with my Notebook with a US adapter that requires a grounded outlet at all times being plugged in. I have seen US to EU adapters that along with the two circular pins, also has the flat grounding contacts.
So my question is, are the wall sockets that I need for the above adapter common in places like hotels in the countries that I have mentioned above?
Any input that would help would be greatly appreciated.
More to the point, is it common for these sockets to accept the ground ie, the ground pin/contact to actually make contact?
First of all, when traveling around you do not always find a grounded contact. From personal experience I would say more often not that when you do find a grounded contact.
Next there is the problem that for ungrounded plugs you can use the Europlug in most of Europe, for the grounded one you will need several more different ones for Europe.
France has a pin sticking out of the contact:

Most people who travel use an ungrounded plug/contact and only carry two plug adapters, one for the UK and one for the rest of Europe.
